Garden Visits

Experiencing exotics under the Bloedel dome

As I have mentioned previously I recently embarked on a two week trip to Canada where I explored the gorgeous areas of Vancouver, Whistler and Banff National Park. We made sure to visit quite a few gardens while in Vancouver and Bloedel Conservatory was a real highlight. Continue reading Experiencing exotics under the Bloedel dome

Inspiring public parks to see in Vancouver

I spent time in Vancouver visiting most of the city’s famous gardens, but also found myself blown away by the quality of horticulture on show in its public open spaces. Continue reading Inspiring public parks to see in Vancouver

Got the Dwarf French beans planted alongside the broad beans in the main bed. Fleeced them to protect overnight, it's hard to predict anything weather-wise as today it went from freezing cold to sunny t-shirt weather. Still feels good simply to get plants in the ground in the walled garden. Along with these got onions and potatoes in. #dwarffrenchbeans #broadbeans #plants #plantsofinstagram #walledgarden #hanburyhall #kitchengarden #growyourown #growyourownfood #organic
Got what I think is a good selection of cut flowers planned for this year. Here is some of the Gypsophila coming on nicely in its translant trays #gypsophila #gypsophilaelegans #cutflowers #cutflowerpatch #flowers #flowersofinstagram #propagation #seedlings #walledgarden #hanburyhall
Built some runner bean supports and, if I can say so myself, they are looking pretty smart on the formal veg garden #hanburyhall #nationaltrust #historicgarden #heritagegarden #historichouse #nationaltrust #formalgarden #hedges #rhubarb #runnerbeans
Tulips starting to show on the allotment 🌷 - though they're admittedly shorter than expected. Still looking good though #tulips #plantsofinstagram #allotment #allotmentlove #plants #plantsofinstagram #cutflowers #springbulbs #spring
Sown Monday, pictured Friday. Tagetes have got some pace on them. They'll be in that parterre in full stunning bloom before you know it. #tagetes #tageteserecta #tagetespatula #frenchmarigold #africanmarigold #seeds #seedsowing #seedlings #propagation #hanburyhall #horticulture #gardening
Those thousand or tiny impatiens seeds I individually sowed seem have thankfully worked well. Can't complain at a high success rate like that. More than got the 700 I need 🙌
