I offer a unique perspective to potential clients. I am both a qualified journalist, who spent close to a decade producing articles for print and online, and a Level 3 trained gardener that has worked in high-profile gardens and has specialist horticultural experience.

My journalism background has seen me cover a range of industries for both print and online media. Work I have written includes news pieces, features, website content, product reviews, newsletters, press releases, and other promotional material.

Over the years I have written about a wealth of topics, from finance and debt to sport, security, gaming, and gardening. Working freelance I contributed to several media companies and websites and always proved myself a strong writer and editor.

Now I am passionate about horticulture, and gardening has certainly taken complete hold over my life, and my writing. I have worked as a gardener for over the last six years, predominantly for the National Trust at Hidcote and Hanbury Hall, and am currently a specialist kitchen gardener growing vegetables, fruits, and herbs at a Walled Garden in Cumbria for a prestigious restaurant. I have also been an allotmenteer, growing vegetables and cut flowers.

I offer a range of horticultural copywriting services to the gardening sector. I can create quality and bespoke editorial copy to fulfill your brief. Get in touch to see how I can help with your garden writing needs.

I offer writing services including news articles, features, blog posts, gardening advice, plant descriptions for websites, press releases, newsletters, or promotional material,

On this Perennial Nerd blog, I cover my adventures growing in the Walled Garden at work, and the journey converting a weedy overgrown field into a productive allotment plot. I also produce how-to growing guides, overviews of garden visits, and focus on some lesser-known crops to inspire growers.

I interview professional growers from kitchen gardens and market gardens across the UK as part of my Grow with the Pros series, to help shine a light on the country’s talented growers and provide inspiration and tips for those growing at home in their garden or allotment. I strive for the blog to help motivate home gardeners and be a place for gardening encouragement and advice

Elsewhere, I have written property pages for the official National Trust website, penned articles on vegetable growing for the Lovely Greens website, as well as featured as a guest blogger for Thompson & Morgan and also the Gardening with Disabilities Trust.

In addition, I also offer proofreading and editorial services to clients. If you need an experienced eye to check any gardening content or writing, or an industry insider to clarify horticultural facts, then let’s start a discussion.

I previously worked as Assistant Editor for a leading media group covering the global security and defence industries. As well as researching and writing online, I interviewed senior industry figures and edited their international trade newspaper. I also worked as a sub-editor for a content agency. I proofread content produced by other writers and uploaded them onto clients’ websites using their content management systems.
