It may have been grey and drizzly in the lakes on Monday, but there was still a lot of colour to be seen at Holehird Gardens @holehirdgardens
It is super easy to grow garlic in water. If you have any spare cloves, or shop bought ones that have started sprouting, simply pop them in a little bit of water and they will grow quickly. And I mean they are really speedy!!
Bit later than normal but I finally sowed some broad beans. This year I am sowing around 20 plants rather than the hundreds and hundreds I did in the walled garden last year. I don't have loads of space at the moment so these will go in raised beds or containers. But I surely couldn't not grow any broad beans this year - they are a favourite

I am kind of late planting garlic. I wrote an article recently on 'growing garlic in pots' and it made me decide to just go for it. It's late but not too late. So I have got this 'cristo' softneck garlic and am going to grow it in a container. Softneck doesn't require the cold period that hardneck does, so I can still get a crop from a spring planting
